STEFANO DA FRE

Imagination rules the world.

On the set of the movie "Taking Woodstock," there was so much noise caused by old diesel 1960s cars on the scene, that Stefano would endlessly repeat back Ang Lee's instructions to him - to the point where Ang Lee jokingly thought Stefano was going deaf.

Thus began his first professional plunge into the world of cinema...

Born in Italy, Stefano Da Fre began speaking English at the age of 7 when he and his family emigrated to Montreal, Canada.

Canada was a beautiful place for me to dream.

After training at Ryerson Theatre School in Toronto, Stefano was ready for the big leap to the Big Apple.  Here, he was accepted at the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre where he was exposed to a dramatic phenom known as Sanford Meisner.  To this day, Stefano lends a great deal of gratitude and credit to his mentors there.

I say this with great pleasure - 90% of my acting I either stole, borrowed, learned, copied, or had beaten into me by Ron Stetson.

2011 was a fruitful year, earning Stefano roles on CBS shows "Blue Bloods" and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent."  Soon after, he landed a lead in short film called VR that catapulted him into the mystical world of cinema, culture, and the French Riviera: the Cannes Film Festival.  He has attended over the past few years, where five of his films have screened at the Short Film Corner - Cannes Court Métrage.

Our New York City film community is a family. It’s warm. It’s enduring. It’s strong.

Stefano has just wrapped production on two feature films (Confidence Game and We've Been Here Before), and another film Im-mu-ni-ty (co-starring Emmy-award winner Rena Sofer).  Currently, he is in pre-production for John A. Gallagher's feature film All Mobbed Up and Laura Pellegrini's fantasy-romance Le Rêve Secret.
